preparing for winter 2Posted by tanabata (Saitama, Japan) on 11 December 2008 in Plant & Nature. In this season you also usually see straw wrapped around the trunks of trees, pine trees especially. These are called Komomaki (woven-straw blankets) and it is apparently a decorative way of providing an inviting place for larvae to hang out for the winter. The straw is then removed in the spring and burned, taking with it the unwanted bugs. Thank you for stopping by and taking the time to comment. I still have a lot to learn so I really appreciate all your comments and suggestions. It may take me a while but I will try my best to return the visit.
